I have been fascinated with the moon since being a young girl and of course, full moon time meant werewolf time! I grew out of my werewolf stage but I still remain infatuated with the moon. Then I began working with children and whenever there was a full moon, the following day they would be crazy! The phrase "it was a full moon last night" would often be used to try make sense of where this odd behaviour would come from. So, my question is, does the moon really affect children?
I've done a little research on this and to my disappointment and I apologise if this becomes your disappointment too, but the evidence suggests that the moon does not affect behaviours of children, what it might do is change their sleep a little, but not enough to be any significance. I am not convinced but I'm in no position to argue with science either!
So, I feel a little bad about this blog being quite short and sweet, when I looked into this all I thought I would uncover the mysteries of the moon! Therefore, for those moon lovers out there and those who may sway towards the spiritual side, I will share with you some meaning behind the new recent moon (January 17th) known as the wolf moon.
Full Wolf Moon
The Wolf Moon is the first moon of the New Year and it was given its name because at this time hungry wolves would often howl at the bright moon outside towns and villages.
The Wolf Moon can represent both a time for beginnings and endings, the old year is behind us and a new one has begun.
This moon may bring us clarity and change. We may find ourselves discovering where we want to go and what we want to let go of. It may also give us the strength and courage to embrace the challenges we are yet to face. Trust that the right decisions will come to you if you trust the process. Focus on what you want to happen and not what you don't want to happen. We may find ourselves making decisions and possibly moving on to the unknown, things may seem out of balance at the moment but keep calm, you will find clarity.
So, no the moon doesn't scientifically affect behaviour, but just notice if you find yourself contemplating where you are right now and where you want to go, the moon may be working its magic. I've actually been feeling like this, I thought it was a midlife crisis, but now I'm blaming the moon!
