In the past I have mentioned how much I love a rainy day and shared with you the benefits of rain play. This still stands, along with the benefits, but I know now it’s the Summer Holidays and August is looking like it could be very wet, I realise that the thought of playing out every day in the rain really isn’t an appealing idea. I also understand how difficult it can be trying to entertain your little people whilst staying sane yourself, especially when the weather isn’t on your side. Therefore, I have done a little investigating for you and have found some activities that bring Forest School inside, and will hopefully help to keep the rainy day boredom at bay.
Here is what I have found:
Start an Indoor Garden: Use an old egg box to plant a seed and watch it grow! Children may want to draw or keep a journal on their seeds progress.

Make Friendship Bracelets: Using embroidery thread, have a go at different patterns and help your child make friendship bracelets for their friends they may not see again until September!

Bring Den Building and Camping Inside: Use a pop up tent, or simply chairs, pillows and blankets to build your own den or camping area indoors. You may want to make some S’mores to add to the experience.

Build and Indoor Obstacle Course: A perfect way to help children burn off some steam, and can replicate some of the Forest School physical activities too!

Decorate old plant pots or rock painting: Using acrylic paint, let your children decorate and bring some life back to any old plant pots you may have. Don’t have any old pots? Bring some rocks inside for your child to decorate- your child may want to then go for a walk and leave these for others to find.
Create some Tie Dye T-Shirts- A perfect activity for both indoors and outdoors!

Here are some other websites that have some fantastic indoor activities you may want to try:
